2008 William T. Nallia
Educational
Leadership Award
(Frankfort,
KY) – Dr. Jack Rose, currently a professor and
former Dean of the College of Education, Murray
State University, is the recipient of the Kentucky
Association of School Administrators’ 2008 William
T. Nallia Award. The Kentucky Association of School
Administrators (KASA) presented the award to Rose
July 17, at its 39th Annual Conference in
Louisville.
The
award is named in honor of Mr. William T. Nallia, a
KASA executive director from 1975-1986. Under his
leadership, the organization experienced tremendous
growth and remained at the forefront of innovation
in public education in Kentucky. The KASA Board of
Directors presents the Nallia Award annually to an
education leader who has visionary leadership which
has contributed significantly to the quality of
public elementary and secondary education in
Kentucky.
Rose, well known in the education field, has worked
for, mentored, supervised or taught three
generations of Kentucky school leaders. During this
time, he has been a tireless advocate for quality
public schools, both within the profession and in
the political and legislative arena.
Having served more than 20 years as Superintendent
of Calloway County Schools, Rose now trains
administrators at the university level. His list of
professional activities is lengthy, including
serving as the President of The Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools (SACS), also serving on the
Education Professional Standards Board and as one of
the “founding fathers” of the Kentucky Center for
School Safety.
The
Kentucky Association of School Administrators is the
largest public school administrators’ group in
Kentucky, representing more than 3000 education
leaders from across the Commonwealth. Formed in
1969, the organization connects K-12 education
leaders to policy makers, legislators, and other
interest groups, and provides numerous benefits and
services to Kentucky’s school administrators.
