The Kentucky Center for School Safety staff
is committed to providing training, resources,
information and research.
In today's society, school
safety is a daily issue that ranges from classroom
management to school shootings. This website is

The
14th Annual Safe Schools Conference
began today, October 6th and continues
tomorrow, October
7th.
Over 500 safety
concerned educators, school administrators,
police officers, school resource officers
and other involved community members
gathered at the Galt House in Louisville to
share, learn and explore school safety
initiatives.

Yahoo and Educators Address Issue of Cyber-Bullying (KCBS-TV)
Sunnyvale, Calif... Oct 3, 2008...Some
200 Bay Area educators met at Yahoo headquarters in Sunnyvale
Friday to talk about cyber-bullying. They heard from Yahoo child
safety expert Catherine Titlebalm who said unethical behavior
online can be prevented through education. She says kids can also
be taught how to protect themselves from cyber-bullying.

children die

Russia (Reuters)... Oct. 1, 2008...a
staircase has collapsed at a school
in the Ural Mountains, killing at
least five children and injuring
several others...

stripped provisions from a school safety bill that would have

14th
Annual
Safe Schools, Successful Students Conference
will be held Oct. 6-7th,
at the Galt House in Louisville. There will
be a meeting of the Post Secondary Task
Force on
October 7th
at 10:00 a.m. in the Collins Room, 2nd
floor of the Galt House.

DRUG FACTS CHAT DAY
will be October 7th. For the
second year in a row, top scientists
from the National Institute on Drug
Abuse (NIDA), the lead Federal agency
for research on drug abuse and
addiction, will be available to answer
online questions from students and
teachers about drugs and their impact on
the brain and body. Last year’s Drug
Facts Chat Day resulted in an
overwhelming 36,000 inquiries!
Registration will be limited this year,

Vote for School Safety!
Kentucky’s educators are working hard to provide the
safe, healthy culture and environment necessary for
their students to learn because we know that
students must feel safe and secure in order to learn
at their highest capacity. To further that goal,
during this week, KCSS will make a special plea that
students, parents, educators, and the community make
a commitment to choose to
“Vote for School Safety!”
