Practices & Promising Programs
Across the
nation, the spotlight on school safety
issues has created a strong interest in
identifying programs that work. Program
evaluation is an important tool in improving
the quality of a program and identifying its
value for replication or expansion. The
United States Department of Education, Safe
and Drug Free Schools office recommends
using research-based programs that meet four
identifiable Principles of Effectiveness.
The KCSS has identified criteria which
exemplify Best Practices and Successful
Programs.
Kentucky
Strategies
In
Kentucky, the KCSS is working to gather
information on programs utilized across the
Commonwealth based on a research-based
Conceptual Framework. KCSS funded programs
are monitored through reports and monitoring
visits. Through these site visits and other
means, the
National
Strategies
Several
major entities have completed exhaustive
evaluations of existing programs and have
data available for public use.
